Services and Amenities

One element of a “complete” neighborhood is the availability of a variety of useful services and amenities. Convenient access to services such as banks, hardware stores, restaurants, post offices, and hospitals can improve a neighborhood’s livability and make it easier for residents to meet their daily needs. Access to human services such as homeless shelters, youth centers, and services for persons with disabilities is also essential to the health and well-being of our region’s most vulnerable residents.

The Services and Amenities Map Series examines the distribution of key financial, retail, public and human services across the region, highlighting the neighborhoods with high levels of access to these amenities as well as those with notably low levels of access.
